We know that the breakdown of the family can be a stressful and emotional time for everyone, and this can be made worse if you cannot access legal advice. We will meet you and take the time to really understand your situation so we can help you to access a range of support and quality legal advice for you and your family. When it is appropriate, we can arrange for you to meet with a legal expert at our offices who can provide you with free legal advice or we can help you to find affordable legal representation.
A relationship breakdown can often have practical implications too, you might need to find somewhere to live or a new job, you might have children to consider or the threat of violence and all at a time when you are emotionally vulnerable. You might need to deal with the local council or benefits agency and need support to do that or you may need some legal protection such as an injunction. Whatever you need we can support you through this difficult time.
If you need to go to court without representation then we can come with you to help you with your papers, quietly give you advice and provide emotional support. We will need to check whether you qualify for legal aid and we may ask you to speak to a solicitor about this. Even if you are able to find legal representation, we will still be there to support you if you need us.
If there is a risk of harm to you or your family, we will speak with you the same day and offer you an urgent appointment. If there is an immediate risk of harm to you or your family then please contact the police.
